Ryan Hampton, five-star guard, Dallas, Texas
2027 five-star combo guard Ryan Hampton received an offer from Texas on June 15. Hampton is the No. 2 overall player in the class of 2027 and picked up offers from Maryland, Tennessee and NC State this past week as well. Hampton is an unselfish player who could fit seemingly into a scheme as fast-paced as head coach Sean Miller’s. At 6-foot-6, Hampton utilizes his length in transition and when crashing the glass and causing havoc on both ends.
The Dallas, Texas, native also has a knack for getting to his spot and creating his own shot when needed.
Baba Oladotun, five-star small forward, Silver Spring, M.D.
2027 five-star forward Baba Oladotun received an official offer from the University of Texas on June 16 and is the No. 3 overall recruit in the class of 2027. Oladotun has been garnering a ton of attention from other programs as well, picking up offers from Oregon, BYU, Pitt, Auburn, Clemson, Miami and Texas A&M. Oladotun being ranked inside the top 3 of his class is no surprise.
At 6-foot-9, Oladotun uses his long strides to get out in transition and finish at the rim. In terms of half-court offense, Oladotun is arguably one of the best shot creators in the class of 2027 and is currently playing for Team Durant at the EYBL while also drawing comparisons to the former Longhorn Kevin Durant.
It is still early in his recruiting process and he will be one to watch in terms of how the Longhorns stack up alongside other top programs pursuing the five-star.
Beckham Black, four-star point guard, Duncanville, Texas
2027 four-star point guard Beckham Black received an offer from Texas on June 15. Black, younger brother of Orlando Magic guard Anthony Black, holds offers from Oklahoma, TCU, SMU, Texas Tech, Georgetown and several other programs. Standing at 6-foot-3,
Black plays the modern point guard position well, setting up teammates in the half court and finding the best option in transition. The Duncanville guard is able to create his own shot on the perimeter, and when attacking downhill, his vision and ability to finish through traffic make him a threat to any opponent.
Reese Alston, four-star point guard, Houston, Texas
2027 four-star point guard Reese Alston received an official offer from the University of Texas on June 15. Alston is starting to garner attention from top programs as well. The 6-foot-2 guard has received offers from Purdue, Texas Tech, Florida State, Texas A&M, Houston and several other programs.
Alston’s elite ball handling and ability to change pace when creating his own shot make him a highly touted prospect. Combined with his vision and knack for creating for others, it’s easy to see why Alston is considered one of the top prospects in Texas in the class of 2027. A guard like Alston could fit well in head coach Sean Miller’s up-tempo system, as his feel for the game and ability to create for his team will stand out.
Dawson Battie, four-star forward, Dallas, Texas
2027 four-star small forward Dawson Battie received an offer from Texas on June 15. Battie also picked up offers from Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Stanford, LSU and Portland. He excels at finding his spot, whether that’s by creating his own shot or moving efficiently without the ball.
Battie could fit well in a system like head coach Sean Miller’s, as he is effective in transition and he uses his length to make an impact on both ends.
