The Kansas All-Classes Pitcher of the Year has committed to Texas. Michael Winter is a talented RHP that had an incredible senior year, striking out 97 batters in 62.2 IP with a miniscule 0.22 ERA and a perfect 7-0 record.
Originally committed to Dartmouth, Winter has a fastball that sits in the low 90s but has been up to 95, and pairs it with some solid secondary stuff, like a low 80s slider and mid 80s changeup. The folks I have talked to are very bullish on Winter’s ability and stuff, and represents another exciting arm for Max Weiner to develop. Texas did not just beat the MLB Draft for Winter’s signature, but they also beat out the likes of Texas A&M and Arkansas, who were just two of the main competitors for the late riser.
Winter is a guy that can absolutely pound the zone and as Max Weiner always says, “Dominate the Zone”. The Texas staff did an outstanding job of evaluating him and then pitching to him how they can help him develop and get to the next level.
Here are some scouting notes from Joe Doyle on Michael Winter
