Texas dipped back into the transfer portal and landed a commitment from Liberty 2B Callum Early.
The younger brother of Boston Red Sox prospect Connelly Early, Callum is a slick fielding 2B who put together a solid freshman year at Liberty before being sidelined by injury. Callum hit for a .295 average in 33 games played, collected 31 hits, 6 doubles, 2 home runs, and 15 RBI. He also walked 22 times against just 25 strikeouts and was 3-5 in stealing bases.
While Early does not bring a ton of power to the lineup, he does have a very solid bat from the left side and helps provide much needed depth to the Texas infield and lineup.
While Liberty is not one of the power conferences, they still play a tough schedule, facing teams such as Clemson, Wake Forest, Virginia, NC State, Duke, and Western Kentucky. In all of the games against these teams, Early was a offensive contributor and made some exceptional defensive plays for the Flames.
