--- Texas football coach Steve Sarkisian made his coordinators and position coaches available on Tuesday. I had the opportunity to chat with Longhorns quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee, defensive line coach Kenny Baker, and cornerbacks coach Mark Orphey. I transcribed each interview and compiled 7,743 words of Q&As. I like you guys too much to dump that material on you. Instead, I will give you the top four responses from each coach.
--- Milwee’s response when I asked how they intend to balance Manning’s ability to scramble with the need for him to stay healthy: “I mean, I think it's on us as coaches to make sure that we're not putting him in that situation too many times in a game. It's obviously on him, from a coaching standpoint, we have to coach him really well to understand that it doesn't have to be Superman runs every time. If it is a run and you can get 15 and get down, let's do that. I've used some coachable moments from last year when he wasn't starting. The Mississippi State game comes to mind. He had this run. He gets up the field and he gets five or six yards, and he could have easily dove. Well, he takes the Mike linebacker on and takes a shot on his throwing shoulder. Didn't hurt him at that point in time, but that hit, over the course of 15, 16 games, that’s going to take a toll.”
