Watching the debacle in Florida, my mind kept drifting to the most Aggy-ish of all thoughts, “wait until next year.”
Believe me, I don’t want to be talking about next year during UT-OU week. But I can’t shake the feeling that from this point on, everything that happens is about setting Texas up for a potential national championship run next year.
Players have to show that they are worth more than whatever replacement Texas can find for them in the transfer portal. And the coaches have to show that they’re capable of continuing to develop players and improving their play calling.
Sure, technically, the Longhorns could still win the SEC, make the playoffs and even win a national championship. But when you start talking about technicalities like that, you’re back in Aggy territory.
