Texas Longhorns land a commitment from ELITE 2027 RHP George Ferguson. A top 20 pitcher in the nation and top 5 player in the state of Texas, Ferguson is a huge head to head win over LSU Tigers and further cements the 2027 Longhorn class as one of the best in the nation. Texas has now secured 16 pledges for the 2027 class
The 6’4 righty mot recently attended the Texas Football game against Vanderbilt, as the Horns hosted a ton of nationally ranked talent. After the visit, George posted the following picture on instagram as he continued to weigh his options. Longhorns fans and the staff did not have to wait long though, as he made the decision to stay home and commit to the Horns.

On the mound, George Ferguson is already a polished talent at just 17 years old. Ranked 17th nationally and 5th in Texas for the 2027 class by Prep Baseball, heโs a force to be reckoned with. His fastball, once sitting at 91โ94 mph during the spring, now touches 95โ96, showcasing his continued development. Add in a sharp slider and a deceptive changeup, and Fergusonโs arsenal makes him one of the most dangerous pitchers in the country.
Talent Analysis of Texas commitment George Ferguson
Here is what Dustin McComas of Five Tool had to say about Ferguson after watching him in person at Area Code Games, “He knows he’s a power pitcher with a big fastball and he relished the chance to repeatedly challenge hitters with full conviction.” That kind of confidence and stuff is exactly what the Texas staff and pitching coach Max Weiner look for in a young pitcher.
Below is a great video of Ferguson’s nasty slider, which came immediately after a 95mph fastball.
