One of the truest statements you’ll ever hear about life is that nobody - and I mean NOBODY - ever truly knows what demons keep someone up at night.
Sometimes it may be that you drank or ate too much the night before. Or perhaps there is a bit of guilt gnawing at your conscience that you simply can’t ignore in the quiet stillness at night.
I used to struggle to sleep when I hadn’t done my homework the night before it was due.
Or perhaps stress gets the better of you.
My wife has been out of work for about two months now and the stress of it frequently keeps her from getting a good night’s rest. She repeatedly wakes up around 3:00 am and stress will keep her from falling back asleep for an hour or more.
Early this morning, with my wife sleeplessly by my side, I woke up and wondered … how is Arch Manning sleeping this week?
Normally, neither Manning nor any other football player, is the first thing I think about after waking up. Perhaps it was because of the fact that I went to bed not yet knowing what I was going to write about this week - or maybe I’m just an Orangebloods member to my core - but I was literally dreaming about Manning so he was fresh in my mind.
And so I was curious, with the trip to Athens quickly approaching, is Arch sleeping soundly these days or are red and black nightmares waking him up each night?
Manning certainly appears to have turned the corner over the last two games. He’s threw for 346 against Mississippi State and 328 yards against Vanderbilt with six touchdowns and one interception. And truthfully, it was really the second half of the Mississippi State game where things seemed to click for the QB1. Manning went 17-27 for 247 yards and two touchdowns in the final two periods.
And as Manning has improved, so has the rest of the offense.
