Charlie Jilek, who had been committed to UCF before flipping to Minnesota, announced on social media on Thursday night that he has flipped his commitment to the Longhorns.
Our of Portage (MI) Central, Jilek becomes the Longhorns’ first tight end commitment in the 2026 cycle. He’s ranked as a three-star prospect and is the nation’s No. 88-ranked tight end in the Rivals.com Industry Rankings. ESPN has him ranked the highest among the three recruiting services, slotting Jilek at No. 23 among tight ends.
A player who lines up at both linebacker and tight end at the high school level, Jilek was actually committed to Minnesota as a defensive player but will head to Austin to learn under Jeff Banks in the Texas tight end room.
He becomes Texas’ 21st commitment in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
