More than 3 years ago, I did a deep dive on Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood in the name of trying to identify both the profile of prospects he prefers to target in recruiting, while also identifying the profiles of players that he has had the most success in developing.
The main take aways were the following:
a. Kyle Flood has few peers when it comes to developing elite prospects into elite NFL prospects. Kelvin Banks was not his first rodeo.
b. Kyle Flood had enjoyed little success with developing non-elite recruits into basic NFL prospects. Trevor Goosby is kind of his first rodeo
I thought it would be kind of fascinating to update the data now that we have some Alabama Texas data to enter into the sample size, which wasn’t the case in 2022 because most of the players he had recruited for Nick Saban were still on the Tide’s roster and weren’t yet eligible for full evaluation.
Therefore, I’ve updated my piece from 2022. I hope you find it informative.
