After just one season in Austin, the Texas Longhorns are moving on from running backs coach Chad Scott, according to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos.
Scott spent one season in Austin after joining the UT staff from West Virginia. He replaced Tashard Choice, who left Texas to coach running backs for the Detroit Lions.
In his one year at Texas, Scott’s running back room struggled through injuries and ineffective play. The Texas tailbacks combined for just 1,198 yards on the season, including just 597 from Tre Wisner and 196 from CJ Baxter.
During the season, running back Jerrick Gibson decided to sit out the remainder of the year and transfer. This week, Baxter and Rickey Stewart both announced that they, too, will be entering the transfer portal.
Texas recently completed a 9-3 regular season that saw the Longhorns narrowly miss out on the College Football Playoffs. Texas will play Michigan in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl on January 31.
