With the Portal set to open on Friday, Orangebloods is debuting its own set of Transfer Portal Rankings, broken down into recruiting tiers that you can understand as a reader.
These rankings will change by the day, as more names enter the Portal and we do more homework on each player. Consider these rankings incredibly fluid for now. In the coming days, we’ll break all of this information down by position, level of play and level of importance to the Longhorns. The rankings are a combined effort that includes work from myself, @Alex Dunlap and @Cody Carpientier
Tier 1 – 5 stars – All-America/Possible First Round Pick/Super Impact
1. WR – Cam Coleman – Auburn (On3: No.1, 247: No.3)
There’s only one Coleman in the marketplace right now and there’s no one even close to him. He’s the Walter Nolan of this class. Yes, you might have to pay a real premium for his services, but you’re buying a player with high level All-America update.
Tier 2 – High 4 stars – All-Conference Level/High Impact
2. RB – Isaac Brown – Louisville (On3: NR, 247: NR)
Has secured more than 2,000 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns on a 7.7 yards per carry average in the last 2 seasons. Only played in 9 games, but averaged 21.0, 8.7, 7.5, 14.6, 8.1 and 10.0 in all 6 games in which he went for more than 100 yards rushing in a game.
3. LB – Rasheem Biles – Pittsburgh (On3: No.10, 247: No.NR)
A two-time All-ACC linebacker, who is coming off a dominant performance against East Carolina in the Military Bowl earlier this week. Originally out of Columbus, Ohio, there’s a sense that he’ll be headed home to the Buckeyes. Has recorded 183 tackles, 32 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in the last 2 seasons.
4. DE/Edge – John Henry Daley – Utah (On3: No.2, 247: No.14)
A first-team Walter Camp All-American this season, who posted 48 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles.
5. DE/Edge – Jayden Woods – Florida (On3: No.17, 247: No.6)
All you need to know about Woods is that he was earmarked as a must-keep by everyone in the Florida program and the Gators are not giving up.
6. QB – Drew Mestmaker – North Texas (On3: No.9, 247: No.2)
I’m not sure much separates the top quarterbacks in the Portal at this point, but Mestmaker feels like a real guarantee on the box for Oklahoma State, who just landed Mestmaker’s head coach.
7. WR – Omarion Miller – Colorado (On3: No.23, 247: No.7)
Miller is not on Coleman’s level (or even close to it IMO), but he’s really, really good and will elevate any passing attack that he is added to. A future second day of the Draft type of playr.
8. QB – Byrum Brown – South Florida (On3: No.6, 247: No.15)
He might be the best quarterback on the market… like I said, there’s not a lot separating the top guys.
9. QB – Sam Leavitt – Arizona State (On3: No.3, 247: NR)
Didn’t build off of last season’s success, but in the right system, this kid can lead a team to the playoffs. Just surround him with talent.
Tier 3 – Mid 4-stars – Major Conference Plus-Starter/Huge Raw Talent
10. QB – D.J. Lagway – Florida (On3: No.18, 247: No.9)
I think I might have him too low. Some of you will think he was too average this season to be this high. He’d be my first choice at quarterback in a player draft if I’m calling the shots. There’s a first round talent inside of the kid.
11. QB – Brandon Sorsby – Cincinnati (On3: No.14, 247: No.1)
Had a much better year than Lagway, but Cincinnati isn’t exactly the big leagues and he wasn’t a difference-maker there… just really solid/good. His flor is high, but his ceiling can’t match Lagway’s
12. OL – Carius Curne – LSU (On3: No.19, 247: No.16)
Alex loves him. Say no more?
13. RB – Adam Muhammad – Washington (On3: No.92, 247: No.50)
LOVE him. Looked like the best player on the field this season when he had 100+ yards against Oregon. The only running back I’ve seen that’s officially in the Portal that makes me come out of my seat when I watch him.
14. DE/Edge – Chaz Coleman – Penn State (On3: No.4, 247: No.4)
I don’t understand why 247 has him ranked as a 5-star. He’s got a lot of talent, but he’s very unproven. I can’t quite sign off on him being a top 5-10 player/prospect in this class. He’s not Jayden Woods.
15. RB – Hollywood Smothers – NC State (On3: No.22, 247: No.23)
He doesn’t make me come out of my seat, but he almost does quite a bit.
16. TE – Benjamin Brahmer – Iowa State (On3: No.40, 247: No.26)
Feels like one of the best tight ends in any conference he plays in next year. He’s a real guarantee on the box at a position that doesn’t crank out true premium players very often. He’s not quite that, but he could be.
17. DE – Tyler Thompson – UNC (On3: No.32, 247: No.129)
Started twice this season as a true freshman, but flashed high-level upside. Just watch the film. He’s only going to get better. Makes any defense he joins better the day he shows up on campus.
18. DT – Mateen Ibrogba – Wake Forest (On3: No.16, 247: No.5)
I’m not quite as high on him as On3 and 247, but he’s an athletic big guy at a premium position.
19. DT/DE – Amarius Williams – Auburn (On3: No.125, 247: No.21)
Really showed flashes this season for the Tigers and projected as a 2026 starter for them after being a key reserve the last two seaosns. Has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
20. DT – Ian Geffard – Auburn (On3: No.81, 247: No.42)
This dude is massive. This dude is SEC proven. This dude is pretty damn good.
21. QB – Josh Hoover – TCU (On3: No.11, 247: No.28)
I think his ceiling is very good.
22. RB – Cam Cook – Jacksoville State (On3: No.27, 247: No.120)
Nothing ultra-flashy, but he has made a ton of plays, big and small.
23. CB – Jontez Williams – Iowa State – (On3: No.7, 247: No.29)
Was one of the Big 12’s best cornerbacks in 2024, but his 2025 season was cut short because of a knee injury.
24 – WR – Nick Marsh – Michigan State (On3: No.21, 247: No.19)
I thinks he’s basically the Midwest version of Deandre Moore. He’s a really nice player who I don’t know holds a much higher ceiling.
25. OT – Xavier Chaplin – Auburn – (On3: No.29, 247: No.41)
Feels like a guy that is going to walk in somewhere in the SEC and start right away at tackle.
26. RB – Caleb Hawkins – North Texas (On3: No.5, 247: No.13)
I’m just not nearly as hot to trot for Hawkins, who is really good, but doesn’t wow me with physical skill.
27. DT – Santana Hopper – Tulane (On3: No.26, 247: No.126)
Hopper put 39 pressures on film for the Green Wave this season and was a first-team All-American selection.
28. DT – Devan Thompkins- USC (On3: No.44, 247: No.17)
Checks a lot of boxes for any school looking for immediate interior defensive line help.
29. WR – Danny Scudero (On3: No.176, 247: 116)
Yes, he’s 5-9, 175 pounds and won’t wow anyone with his pysical. All he does is produce and produce and produce. He had 88 catches for 1,291 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. That includes 7 catches for 60 yards against Texas in September.
30. LB – Robert Woodyard – Auburn (On3: No.25, 247: No.76)
Was one of the best defenders on the Auburn team this season. Productive. Strong. SEC proven.
31. S -Boo Carter – Tennessee (On3: No.51, 247: No.38)
Super talented, but comes with off-field baggage.
32. OG – Shadre Hurst – Tulane (On3: 68, 247: No.127)
Hurst has started all 13 games for Tulane this season with 12 at left guard and one at left tackle. Was named a second-team All-American by the Sporting News
33. Edge – Sahir West – (James Madison) (On3: No.121, 247: No.91)
It’s not that he had 14 tackles for loss and 7 acks for JMU this season, it’s that he flashes tasty athletic skill and has 3 seasons of eligibility remaining.
34. CB – Bo Mascoe – Rutgers (On3: No.33, 247: No.53)
Earned All-Big 10 honors this season at Rutgers, which seems like a hard thing to do. Originally, from the state of Florida.
35. QB – Deuce Knight – Auburn (On3: No.36, 247: No.11)
Former 5-star talent in recruiting.
36. DE/Edge – Wendell Gregory – Oklahoma State (On3: No.13, 247: No.37)
Has a pretty light resume, but he is in this little clump of edge players who flashes real talent in small doses this season when given the chance.
37. WR – Deandre Moore – Texas (On3: No.71, 247: No.8)
Moore is a very good player. The question is whether being vry good is his ceiling.
38 – RB – Tre Wisner – Texas (On3: No.65, 247: No.30)
See Deandre Moore. He’ll make someone’s team better.
39. LB – Austin Romaine – Kansas State (On3: No.15, 247: No.115)
A former All-Big 12 selection who would probably be ranked a little higher if not for the injuries he battled this season.
40. CB – Jay Crawford – Auburn (On3: No.31, 247: No.36)
Has flashes doses of stardom in Auburn, but it never quite came together for him, despite playing a lot of football over his first two seasons,.
41. DE/Edge – J’Mond Tapp – Southern Miss (On3: No.42, 247: NR)
Couldn;t make a dent at Texas, but had 7 1/2 sacks this season for Southern Miss. Feels like a guy that could be a star in the Big 12.
42. DE/Edge – Adam Trick – Miami (Ohio) (On3: No.30, 247: No.59)
Posted big numbers, but doesn’t wow you on film with his size/athleticism.
43. WR – Terrell Anderson – NC State (On3: No.24, 247: No.24)
Am I sleeping on him a little here? Hios tape doesn’t wow me, but he’s good.
44. WR – Chase Sowell – Iowa State (On3: No.98, 247: No.39)
A very productive college receiver, who will probablybe productive wherever he goes. 123 receptions for nearly 1,800 yards and 6 touchdowns over the last 3 seasons in Ames.
45. S – Marcus Neal – Iowa State – (On3: No.50, 247: No.69)
One of Iowa State’s best players on defense this season. Posted 77 tackles and created 3 turnovers this season.. has 2 years of eligibility remaining.
46. DE/Edge – Javion Hilson – Missouri (On3: No.52, 247: No.134)
Five-star talent that does not come with a guarantee on the box. Super risky at this point.
47. CB/S – Jeremiah Cooper – Iowa State (On3: No.8, 247: No.114)
Was an honorable mention All-Big 12 player in 2024, but injuries cut short his 2025 season after 4 games. Has one season of eligibility remaining.
48. CB – Daniel Harris – Georgia (On3: No.76, 247: No.97)
Didn’t have a great season and has nver quite been able to hold on to a starting njob with the Dawgs, but he’s good enough to have started for the Dawgs, which is no small thing.
49. S – Ian Foster – Southern Miss (On3: No.55, 247: NR)
An All-Sun Belt selection this season aFTER RECORDING 75 tackles, 3.5 TFL, three PICKS, 2 returned touchdowns and 10 pass breakups. Foster led the country in interception return yardage and touchdowns.
50. Keaton Thomas – Baylor (On3: No.185, 247: No.146)
Thomas was a second-team All-Big 12 selection this season and has two seasons oif eligibility remaining.
51. QB – Rocco Becht – Iowa State (On3: No.35, 247: No.20)
Is this too low? I’m not sure how high on the plus-player scale he can actually go.
52. WR – Jayce Brown – Kansas State (On3: No.20, 247: No.48)
Really productive receiver this year, who averaged 17.4 and 17.5 yards per reception in each of the last 2 seasons, respectively.
53. WR – Eugene Wilson – Florida (On3: No.95, 247: No.31)
This is a guy that was good enough to catch 9 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown in his final game with the Gators against Georgia. His career numbers are underwhelming, but there’s a player inside of that kid.
54. CB – Jaheim Johnson – Tulane (On3: No.194, 247: No.72)
One of the top defenders on a team that went to the playoffs this season. Led the Green Wave with 4 interceptions and has 2 seasons of eligibility remaining.

55. OT – Josh Atkins – Arizona State (On3: No.79, 247: No.119)
