Smithson Valley’s Ty Knutson has committed to Texas, becoming the Longhorns’ quarterback pledge for the Class of 2027.
The 6-3, 210-pound signal-caller chose Texas over offers from programs including Houston, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, TCU, and Oklahoma State. Knutson, a three-star prospect, received his Texas offer during a Junior Day visit in January after prior campus trips, including for multiple games last fall.
Knutson becomes the sixth commitment in Texas’ 2027 recruiting class, giving the Longhorns their targeted QB in the cycle following thorough evaluations by head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee.
“UT is amazing. Everything they’ve done for me and my family is awesome. I want to keep building more and more on the relationship we have,” Knutson said told Orangebloods when he picked up his Texas offer.
A two-time state champion at Smithson Valley, Knutson threw for 2,610 yards and 29 touchdowns last year against just 3 interceptions, completing 193 of 298 attempts (64.7%). He added 232 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground.
