* Not much has changed behind the scenes in recruiting since last week’s War Room. I previously reported that Texas had the silent commitments of three major recruits. Tyler Atkinson was one of the recruits being alluded to. Good news, Longhorn fans: I was told to expect more commitments by the end of this month (no specific number was given). The expectation is that Texas will be sitting in the catbird seat before the season begins. * The final day of summer conditioning will be July 24. Players will rest from July 25–27. After a brief break, players are required to report for training camp no later than 2 p.m. on July 28. The first day of training camp, including meetings and team photos, is July 29. * I was told the players expect Torre Becton, the strength and conditioning trainer, to kick their *** next week before the break. Everyone is mentally preparing themselves for one last kick in the butt before training camp begins.
