Fans of Texas Baseball will get their first look at the 2025-2026 Horns on September 27th in Round Rock as the Longhorns will play an exhibition game against longtime foe Texas Tech Red Raiders at the Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express.
This will be the second time the Longhorns have played the Red Raiders since leaving the Big 12, as Texas defeated Tech by a score of 10-5 in the second game of the Las Vegas Classic last season. The Horns lead the Red Raiders by a tally of 122-54 all-time and are 8-4 in neutral site games since first meeting in 1968.
The exhibition game is the first official look that fans will have of the retooled Longhorn team as Texas enters year two of SEC play. The Longhorns hope to replicate the same success they experienced during the 2025 season, which resulted in an SEC regular season championship and #2 overall national seed for the NCAA Tournament. Texas Tech on the other hand is looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2025 campaign which saw the Red Raiders finish with a 20-33 record. The Longhorns will rely upon one of the best pitching staffs in the nation and will look to get more consistency out of the lineup.
The great news for Texas fans is that the exhibition game against Texas Tech falls on an off weekend for Longhorn football, giving fans a chance to catch all the action at the Dell Diamond.

The exhibition game against Texas Tech will not be the only chance for the fans to see the Horns play baseball this Fall. Texas will host Lamar Cardinals on September 3rd at Disch-Falk Field. The Horns lead the Cardinals by a tally of 36-7 and are 1-0 in games at a neutral site since first meeting in 1970. The Horns last played Lamar back on May 6th, a game in which the Horns won 9-3 after a big 5 inning offensive output that put the game away. Currently the Longhorns have a five game win streak against the Cardinals, though Lamar will look to be a very different team in 2026 after bringing in 19 players from the transfer portal, resulting in the 23rd ranked transfer portal class according to 64 Analytics. Coach Will Davis has guided Lamar to back to back 40 win seasons and have created a reputation for being a tough mid-major competitor.
