In case you missed it on Friday, Dia Bell did not play in his team’s game due to injury and he announced tonight that he is shutting it down for the remainder of his senior season “due to an unexpected, minor procedure that needs to be addressed.” Tough break for Bell, who suffered a similar fate last year, but the good news is that he should be fine long-term and he remains locked in with his Texas commitment.
“As disappointing as the ending of this chapter is for me, I am even more excited about being 100% healthy and starting the next chapter in Austin!,” Bell said on Instagram. “To my new family, my Longhorn family…see you all in January!”
Five-star Texas running back commitment Derrek Cooper is readying for his UT official visit next weekend. I caught up with Cooper today, who said he’s looking forward to spending time with the coaches and his future teammates. Other schools like Miami continue to push for the Fort Lauderdale Chaminade-Madonaa product, but he said he’s still locked in with Texas.
“I feel great about my commitment,” Cooper said. “Nothing but great things about Texas. I’m ready to go in and start my new journey, my new life. I’m ready to get there and get started.”
More from Cooper in the 3-2-1 on Monday.
