Sunday night recruiting notes from Texas-OU visitors

We caught up with several prospects who were in attendance for the Texas win over Oklahoma, including UT commitment Samari Matthews.

Cornelius (NC) Hough cornerback Samari Matthews

JayQuan Snell – Safety – Waxahachie

Waxahachie S JayQuan Snell, one of the country’s top prospects in the 2027 cycle, said he loved the environment and the experience. He’s hoping to commit in December or January so we’re not far off on him making a decision. He was at UT’s game against UTEP, will be back for the A&M game and is trying to hit one home game before that one. I asked him who he was rooting for yesterday … Snell is very smart and very polished in interviews … he smartly told me he was just rooting for both defenses.

Kaden McCarty – EDGE – Cy Falls

2027 EDGE Kaden McCarty has a top five of Houston, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Baylor and Texas. He’ll be committing on December 8. The game yesterday made a strong impression and he loves the way UT utilizes its EDGE defenders.

Jerry Outhouse – CB – North Crowley

North Crowley 2027 CB Jerry Outhouse was at the game with several teammates, including UT commitment John Turntine. He said he loved the environment and can see himself playing in the Texas-OU game in the future. He also said Turntine is recruiting him very aggressively.

Samari Matthews – CB – Cornelius (NC) Hough (Texas commitment)

Texas commitment Samari Matthews … “Great game! Texas played true Texas football on both sides of the ball. The atmosphere was electric, and I can’t wait to wear that burnt orange.”
