The Orangebloods Matrix

In an attempt to make following Texas Longhorns recruiting as easily as possible, Orangebloods has created a new tool that will be updated on a daily/weekly basis that should make understanding what's happening much clearer.

Recruiting Matrix Key

Diamond (800k+) – Best of the best of the best. We’re talking 7 figures per year upon arrival. National Top 10-15 players.

Platinum (500k-800k) – Super Blue Chip/National Top 70-ish. The kind of player that your school absolutewly takes and probably will need to pay high six figures for their services at a minimum (just as a rule of thumb).

Gold (300k-800k) National Top 100-200. Possibly on the cusp of super blue chip status, but perhaps there’s just one thing holding them back. This is possible no man’s land for the Longhorns. Has to be good enough that you can justify paying a hefty-sized price.

Silver (100k-300k)– National Top 150-300. Just a tier below the gold tier. Just a group to keep an eye on.

Bronze (<100k) – National Top 400-1,000

Touchdown Club – This one’s simple. If you’re a commitment, you’re in this group … and that’s the only way to get into this group.

Red Zone – These are player who are trending UT’s way, or Texas is in the top three at worst and there’s no clear-cut, runaway favorite among those three schools.

FG Range – These are the guys that have Texas in their top five. If a player has a top 10 and we feel the Longhorns are in the top half, they’ll fall into this category. If a guy is taking a Texas official visit, they’ll be in this category (or higher).

Wrong side of the 50 – Simply put, these are the longshots. Texas is in the race but the player is most likely going to wind up elsewhere barring a change of course.

Sidelines – These are basically the no-shot guy. If a player isn’t interested in Texas, or is committed elsewhere, he’ll fall into this group. The only exception is a player who is committed elsewhere but is still actively in communication with the Texas staff, or he’s taking an official/unofficial visit to Texas.
