The Texas Longhorns have added some experience and depth to their linebacker room, landing Akron transfer Markus Boswell.
Boswell, a native of Austin who played at Lake Travis High School, is returning to Central Texas after spending his freshman season with the Akron. The 6-1, 230-pound linebacker recorded 19 tackles during his only college season.
With three years of eligibility remaining, Boswell brings valuable experience to the Texas program as the Longhorns continue to bolster their roster through the transfer portal.
Boswell’s father, Mark Boswell, is a former University of Texas All-American track standout and two-time Olympian in the high jump.
With the 2026 season on the horizon, Texas has been active in addressing defensive needs following recent departures and portal activity, with linebacker being a priority. Boswell’s addition provides immediate depth in that room and with him having multiple years of eligibility, he could be a valuable pickup for seasons beyond the 2026 campaign.
