The Texas Longhorns have been on an incredible roll this week. It seems the entire UT athletic department just can’t lose.
A lot of the credit for the department wide success has to go to athletic director Chris Del Conte. His ability to hire quality coaches who can compete at the highest levels is second to none.
However, there is another, less obvious person, who is getting credit.
“The attitude of the head football coach towards the rest of the [athletic] department really dictates the culture of the head coaches,” Texas baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle told reporters ahead of the start of the season. “The attitude of the head football coach towards the rest of the department really dictates the culture of the head coaches. If that guy is a removed guy, and doesn’t include himself in other things or isn’t asked to be included in head coaches’ meetings or all staff stuff, then it’s a splinter department.”
Schlossnagle and Sarkisian both say they have developed a good relationship and both have invested their own time taking in other UT sports.
