As we inch closer to the upcoming NFL Draft, we need to reflect on Steve Sarkisian’s 2022 signing class.
“I mean, I think that that group, you know, when, when we got into it, that group started to shift the narrative of what Texas football was about. And I, you know, I say this a lot, and I think sometimes it goes unnoticed, those guys. You know, when in 22 when you think about 2012 to 2022, that wasn’t the best era of Texas football. There were no national championships, there weren’t conference championships, there wasn’t a bunch of players getting drafted in the first round, and so a lot of youth.
“And so think about those guys. They were eight years old till they were 18 years old. That’s what they saw. That’s what they remembered. So they took a little bit more of a leap of faith in believing in what we were going to become as a program. Nowadays, we’re six years later now, these guys that were in middle school watching those teams start to win and start to grow in first round picks and Xavier running 4.21, and all these things, now we’ve become a little bit more cool. Guys are a little bit more like, oh, I want to go see Texas.”
