The Longhorns had targeted running back Noah Roberts as a top priority in the 2027 recruiting cycle and on Friday afternoon, Texas got its man when Roberts gave the Longhorns a verbal commitment.

Out of Chandler (AZ) Basha, Roberts chose Texas over heavy interest in programs like Michigan and Oregon.

The 6-1,190-pound Roberts visited Texas in late April and came away impressed from that visit. The Texas staff relied to Roberts that he’s have a chance to be an early contributor, much the same way Derrek Cooper has this year.

“ I can come out here, I need to be ready to play, like day one. I need to be ready to get out here and ball,” Roberts said if the message from Jabbar Juluke. “He’s going to develop me to do so, so I like that.”

Originally, Roberts planned to take his official visits before committing but a couple of weeks after his not recent trip to Austin, he decided Texas was home.

“It’s really how they use their backs, the history of them. Guys like Bijan Robinson. He’s from Arizona, so they like Arizona guys. I feel like I’m very versatile, and Coach Sark uses his backs in a very versatile way, like catching the ball and all that. So that’s what I like”

Roberts becomes Texas’ 10th commitment and he’s UT’s first running back commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
