It's been a few months since I compiled this data, but it's something I've been thinking about a lot in the last week, as a number of elite 2026 recruits are starting to come off the board.
I'm not sure that we've discussed enough the new ceiling that has somewhat emerged with regard to talent acquisition inside of college football. Very quietly (who else is talking about this?), the trio of Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State has drifted back to the pack in such a way that those programs no longer have a supersonic talent edge on the rest of the sport.
Don't get me wrong ... they still have nearly 2X the elite-level difference-making level of recruits/players on their roster compared to the likes of Texas A&M or Florida, but just a few years ago these schools had 3X or 4X the number of elite prospects than the likes of Oklahoma, LSU, Florida, Notre Dame, etc...
They are no longer at the top of the sport by themselves. Oregon and Texas have truly crashed the party. Others are surging (see LSU, Notre Dame, USC and Texas A&M)
